Balestier itself is in fact a important part of Singapore History.
Balestier Road was named after the first American consul Joseph Balestier who owes a sugar plantation called Balestier Plain. Living in Balestier is already being part of the nearly 180 years old of history!!
We should be proud that National Heritage Board has made Balestier Road the Balestier Heritage Trail. This consist of historic places like:

- The Church of St. Alphonsus (Novena Church)
Walking down or driving past Hong Kong Street at Boon Teck Road, a Water Kiosk still stands.
A symbol of legacy of the earlier times when clean drinking water was a luxury.
